1959 Fender Precision Bass in Danbury NH

A few weeks ago I found out about this bass, and I hit the road to travel to northern New Hampshire to buy this 1959 Precision Bass in its beautiful sunburst finish. As a New Hampshire vintage guitar buyer I was already on my way to buy a 1973 Precision Bass when the same seller asked me if I was interested in purchasing this 1959 P Bass as well. Needless to say I was very excited when I saw the pictures of this bass. I stopped at the last bank for 50 miles and got there 2 minutes before they closed!
1950s Fender Precision Bass Buyer
I am always a buyer for Fender Precision Basses made in the 1950s and 1960s! Have one you are looking to sell? Contact me to sell a vintage Fender. I was happy to buy these two vintage Fender basses in New Hampshire. I especially love precision basses from 1958 and 1959 with gold anodized pickguards like this one.

1959 Fender Precision Bass Modifications
I don’t know too much about this bass other than it was a studio bass for many years of its life, and saw quite a few modifications over the years. At one point it was routed for a second pickup and a 3 way switch. I have to imagine this would be a pretty cool setup, although it has been returned to its original pickup configuration with its original rewound pickup. The pots were replaced in the mid 60’s.

It had a very well done refret and the nut was replaced at the same time. This was very professional work, I wish I knew who did it so I could give them more business! The bridge was also replaced sometime in the late 60’s or early 70’s as indicated by the longer G saddle screw.
