1960 Les Paul Junior in Quakertown Pennsylvania

1960 Les Paul Junior in Quakertown Pennsylvania

I have always wanted to get one of these guitars so I was very happy to acquire this 1960 Les Paul Junior in Quakertown, Pennsylvania! It was a 14 hour round trip, but well worth it to get my hands on this beautiful 1960 Les Paul Junior. I am always a Pennsylvania vintage guitar buyer. These 1950’s and early 1960’s Gibson Les Paul Juniors are some of my favorite vintage guitars. Have one you are looking to sell, or just looking for more information on? Contact me

Gibson Les Paul Junior History and Body Styles

Although originally intended to be a student guitar, these Les Paul Juniors rock with their single p90 pickup, and they've gained a large following. They were made in the same Kalamazoo, Michigan Gibson factory as their Les Paul Special, and Les Paul Standard brothers making them a great less expensive alternative. This one has already sold, but it is too cool not to share.

The Les Paul Junior was originally released in 1954 with the single-cut body style. In mid 1958 Gibson switched to the double-cut style. This style was kept until early 1961 when the body style was swapped to SG style. Wondering what year/style your Gibson guitar is? Contact me

1960 Gibson Les Paul Junior Originality and Provenance

This is a nice example that I am thrilled to have. My 1960 Gibson Les Paul Junior is mostly original, except for the nut and the tuners. The cherry finish remains relatively vibrant. There have been no breaks or repairs. A previous owner replaced the tuners with another set from the early 60’s because one was bent, but the original set is still with the guitar. It also came with a picture of the original owner with the guitar taken in 1969. Old pictures and stories of guitars and their first owners who bought themnew are some of my favorite things to find with vintage gear.
